Working alongside JISC, the UK sponsoring organisations of the Strategic Content Alliance are:
- the British Library
- the BBC
- British Education Communications and Technologies Agency (BECTA)
- the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)
- the NHS National Library for Health (NLH)
As well as a commitment to achieving a higher level of co-ordination of content provision activities the current sponsoring organisations share the following characteristics:
• They provide a major set of e-content services to their constituency of users
• They are in command of significant resources and can directly influence the quality and direction of content services in their area
• They share common public purposes, especially with regard to culture, education, research and learning.
The Strategic Content Alliance convenes a Board of its sponsors on a quarterly basis which plans, directs and advises on future activity and investment. Terms of Reference of the Board are available from Sarah Fahmy (sarah.fahmy@jisc.ac.uk)
