The JISC Funders’ Forum on Sustaining Digital Resources on 7 May 2010 followed a successful video conference held on 30 July 2009. This brought together public and not-for-profit sector funders in the UK, US and Canada to discuss and review funders approaches to developing sustainable digital resources. This year’s event provided a forum for a wider audience of organisations who are grappling with this issue. The event highlighted successful business models being used by projects; funder’s methodologies; new research and emergent trends on the development of effective business models for digital resources from across the globe. Google Book settlement: share your views

The US Google Book Settlement and its potential implications has captured the attention and imagination of a range of people, from those working within higher and further education to publishers, authors, libraries, museums and archives. Google’s initiative  has  seen approximately seven million books digitised by the  search  engine  company through partnerships with libraries, publishers and authors, and interest has grown as developments have slowly unfolded.

Sustainability at a glance

Ithaka S+R has completed a multi-year investigation of innovative funding models to sustain digital projects, culminating in a summary paper and twelve detailed case studies. Now, Ithaka has produced three briefing papers for use across the public sector, highlighting suggestions drawn from this project, and suggesting how the examples provided by some of the case studies might be useful to specific professional areas of digital content creation and curation.

The online survey asking for your feedback on Strategic Content Alliance resources has now closed and the winner of the Amazon vouchers has been selected at random from the entrants who completed all the fields.
