7 June, London: Everything you wanted to know about Wikipedia but were too afraid to ask
Liam Wyatt is Vice President of Wikimedia Australia and a historian. He has recently been appointed as the first “volunteer Wikipedian in residence” at the British Museum – the first residency of its kind anywhere in the world. His principle task there will be to build a relationship between the Museum and the Wikipedian community through a range of activities, both internally and public-facing.
We are running a FREE event on the afternoon of Monday, 7 June (two sessions about 2 hours or so in duration). At this event, Liam will be drawing on his experience in bringing the museum and Wikipedia communities together to present a museum-sector-specific overview on the opportunities, benefits and challenges of working with Wikimedia. After his presentation, and along with other Wikipedians attending, there will be the opportunity for in-depth discussions and Q&A.

2 June (Newcastle) and 17 June (London) 2010: Maximising the effectiveness of your online resources workshops
These free two day workshops address the important issue of search engine optimisation as well as other related topics and concerns. Participants will gain a perspective on how basic guidelines, simple content planning, social media activities and use of metadata, all contribute to the effectiveness of a website. These courses are provided by the Strategic Content Alliance (SCA) and JISC Netskills.

7 May 2010: Funders’ Forum, London
The JISC Funders’ Forum on Sustaining Digital Resources followed a successful video conference held on 30 July 2009. This brought together public and not-for-profit sector funders in the UK, US and Canada to discuss and review funders approaches to developing sustainable digital resources. This year’s event provided a forum for a wider audience of organisations who are grappling with this issue. The event highlighted successful business models being used by projects; funder’s methodologies; new research and emergent trends on the development of effective business models for digital resources from across the globe. Powerpoint presentations from the day are available here:
